At UMBC, we believe that global education is not one-size-fits-all. That’s why we work closely with partner institutions around the world to design and deliver customized short-term programs that align with their specific goals, whether academic, professional, or cultural.

Our Global Partnerships

UMBC has proudly hosted participants from across the world, including:

  • Japan – In partnership with the Association of Private Schools of Kanagawa Prefecture, we offer customized English language and TESOL training programs for both students and teachers, stemming from the Maryland–Kanagawa Sister State relationship established in 2019.

  • Bangladesh – We have hosted short-term English and leadership development programs for university students and emerging leaders.

  • Nanzan University (Japan) – UMBC supports annual professional development for faculty in areas such as TESOL, intercultural education, and academic exchange.

  • Seik-Gakuin and Kanagawa High School Students (Japan) – These programs focus on English immersion, cultural exchange, and student leadership.
