Most ELI students live in private, off-campus housing in the neighborhoods near UMBC (Catonsville, Arbutus, and Halethorpe). UMBC Transit provides free shuttle bus services between these areas and the UMBC campus. If you will not have a car during your studies at the ELI, you may prefer to live near one of the UMBC shuttle routes.
You can also reach the UMBC campus using the public MTA bus routes CityLink Yellow, LocalLink 37, LocalLink 76, and Express BusLink 107. You can purchase a discounted MTA monthly pass at UMBC.
The ELI cannot arrange off-campus housing or family homestays for students. You are responsible for finding your own housing. The UMBC Division of Student Life webpage helps you to find locate off-campus housing that fits your need or preference.
